Mohawk's Saddle with Thighretainer

DOUBLE THIGH RETAINER
SINGLE THIGH RETAINER

MOHAWK THIGH RETAINER SADDLE SYSTEM:

We have taken our, already popular, thighretainer and improved it.

We increased the width of the foam retainer from 4" to 6" and added a 1" web strap which is adjusted with a simple, lightweight tourniquet buckle.  The extended width of the retainer and the additional 1" strap, add more pressure forward for knee holddown and more pressure aft for lap holddown.

Another plus is that the larger double "D" ring side anchor spreads the load on a bigger area for less chance for a blowout.  Even with the extra hold capability it is still one of the easiest systems to wet exit out of, releasing either one of the straps is not necessary, simply release your feet from the foot pedals and fall back and out.  Both buckles are easy to release, and well within reach sitting right in your lap if you feel the need.  The whole system including saddle, knee pads, thighretainer and buckles, footbraces and attaching hardware and the saddle to thwart connecting dowel, weighs only 5.1 lbs.

Mohawk's solo saddle with Thighretainer includes saddle, thighretainer, thigh wedges, knee pads & Yakima footbraces. Installed with end bags and lacing kit for $240.00-single thighretainer, $270.00- double thighretainer.

Saddle kit only (includes: foam saddle, thigh retainer and side anchors, footbraces and mounting hardware, knee pads.

 single, $132.00 / Double, $162.00

A word from Mike Aronoff, an ACA Instructor Trainer Educator from the Washington D.C. area.

Read what Mike Aronoff ( ACA Instructor-Trainer-Educator in the DC area) had to say about Mohawk's new improved thigh retainer in an email he sent us after he had a chance to use  it in a test boat we sent him.

RE: new thighretainer: I got together three local ACA whitewater instructors and went on a river trip with the newly outfitted boat. We wave surfed, rolled and got in some vigorous side surfs. The new retainer gets a  big thumbs up from everybody. We were all able to set the buckles for as tight as we wanted and slide in and out. Due to the additional surface area, rolling seems easier. Knees cannot lift up or to the side, so all the energy transfers to the boat. Wet exits seemed nearly as easy as with the single strap and did not require pulling the buckles. Even after multiple rolls, the outfitting didn't budge. Although most paddlers have no problem rolling or using the single system, I am sure the double system will be beneficial to those who play hard and expect to do multiple rolls.

Thank You,  Mike
