PROBE 11, 12 & 12II

PROBE 11-The Probe 11 is our shortest version of the Probe series.  It has all of the characteristics of the longer probes, like lots of flare in the sides for great secondary stability, rounded chines for easy side surfing, plus high volume ends .Smaller paddlers like it's light weight, larger paddlers will find it takes more skill to paddle, but like its added responsiveness, small size and added challenge. Suggested List-$899.00, FACTORY DIRECT-$719.20

Probe 12- Of the 3 solo Probes, the Probe 12 is the most popular. This is a boat that most entry level paddlers can start out with, but not grow out of. Its 28" beam at the 4" waterline make it quick to accelerate. The flair at the center section give it a tremendous amount of secondary stability that Probe paddlers love. The Probe 12 , as all other Probes have symmetrical rocker, this feature makes ferrying, eddyturns and peelouts very predictable. This, along with the flared sides instills a lot of confidence while leaning the canoe. Suggested List-$899.00, FACTORY DIRECT-$719.20

Probe 12 II- Shares all of the features of the Probe 12, but in a more performance oriented package, the Probe 12 II is 6" shorter overall and narrower at the 4" waterline and an inch narrower at the gunwale. Some stability is sacrificed compared to the standard Probe 12, but the increase in performance is noticeable, It still has great secondary stability due to the flared center section. Suggested List-$899.00, FACTORY DIRECT-$719.20

All Probe's are available in Royalex only.

VIPER 11&12

VIPER 11-Though less stable than the Viper 12 due to its shorter length, it is a little less edgy. This canoe has a reputation for being an upper intermediate to expert only type canoe.  It has won and placed in many whitewater Rodeos. Its lightweight, speed and maneuverability make it a popular steep creek boat. Suggested List-$899.00, FACTORY DIRECT-$719.20

WINNER 1993 WORLD RODEO (1st 2nd & 3rd)

WINNER 1993/94 OCOEE RODEOS

WINNER 1994 OTTAWA RIVER RODEO

VIPER 12- The Viper 12 has excellent primary stability and good secondary stability. However the edge ( a sharper, less curve to the chine) can catch cross currents and  eddies and flip the paddler who has not mastered the edge. The Viper 12 is a favorite of many paddlers that compete in the Royalex slalom race class. Its popularity, and many wins is a testimonial to its precise handling. Few boat besides the Viper have an edge. Since the paddling characteristics are so different, our advise is paddle a boat with an edge before you buy. Suggested List-$899.00, FACTORY DIRECT-$719.20

New from Mohawk - Designed by Harold Deal

Mohawk introduces the SHAMAN 12 in Royalex and R-84. A 12'7" whitewater solo playboat that successfully combines slalom-like maneuverability with outstanding forward speed and glide. A blend of subtle design features distinguish the SHAMAN 12 from other boats in its class.

This is a canoe that gives the technical playboater an advantage in making aggressive attainments and linking challenging moves. The SHAMAN is quick to turn without any overspin and accelerates easily on demand. Directional stability is excellent. A smooth, predictable personality minimizes defensive braces. The asymmetrical rocker and waterline with dynamic trim sensitivity lets you fine tune the boat's reaction to currents and paddle strokes. Stern leans release the bow to maximize the spin characteristics. Gentle knee pressure can initiate carved turns or set the hull to block waves.

Generous flare from bow to stern provides remarkable final stability that  appeals to whitewater paddlers of all skill levels. Cruisers like the SHAMAN'S responsive yet forgiving feel. The slender hull width is comfortable to paddle and promotes good stroke mechanics. We believe you'll appreciate the great styling too.

The SHAMAN 12 allows you the freedom to paddle precisely, and with confidence and finesse. It is a superb choice for open boaters who want to develop and exercise efficient technique. The SHAMAN excels in catching those elusive surfing waves. Paddlers also comment on how easy it is to roll.  Did we mention the outrageous fun you can have?   RETAIL PRICE: $925.00,  FACTORY DIRECT PRICE:  $740.00

Harold Deal is known for his adeptness in several canoe disciplines. His focus on precise boat control has led to many first place finishes at the Whitewater Open Canoe Nationals in the slalom events and in the Combined Slalom / Downriver Class.

The Shaman's Concepts and shape developed from years of experience in the sport, and the designer's commitment to build a predictable playboat with the optimum overall performance  that has made it successful in placing at the top of its class.

Some testimonials from paddlers of our Whitewater Canoes

Dear Craig and Mohawk,
I just returned from paddling in the South East
for two weeks, and I wanted to tell how much I love my
new Rodeo. That boat rocks! Even the kayaker's were
giving me compliments. Your outfitting is one of the
best outfitting's I've seen. I always felt bomber. I
also want to thank you for how easy it is to buy a
boat from you. Everything from calling you and talking
about boats and outfitting to picking my boat up at
the shipping terminal was really easy. Thanks again
for the fast and friendly service. I can't wait to buy
another boat from you.

Thanks again
Dick Chasse

To Craig and all the folks at Mohawk:

04/03/01

My brother and I picked up our Probe 12 at the freight yard and took it straight to the river. That was back in late February and now in early April that boat has been paddled 12 days already. The construction and finish of the boat are first rate. Surfing is a dream, and side surfing is just too easy. Now I wonder why we waited so long before buying a boat from Mohawk. As long as we open boat, you will get business from us. By the way, I was able to roll the boat 2 times the first day. That says a lot about a canoe when its loaded with 210lbs. of middle-aged human.

One last thing about your products- your Mohawk canoe paddles are the best. I have and use several brands of paddles including Perception, Carlisle, and Mohawk. Without question the Mohawk paddles are the strongest, most durable, and most reasonably priced paddles that I have ever used. Thanks. And to all the fine people at Mohawk, thanks for great service and quick shipment of our boat.

Sincerely,

Robert Gregory

Benton, AR

To all of you at Mohawk, I just wanted to give an update on my Probe 12 II. I have taken it on the Nantahala River (swam the first day, but aced it the second day), Amicalola Creek. Chattahoochee River (numerous times), and Chestnatee River (did the 8' falls at the copper mine!) My Probe has been the greatest boat that I could have ever wanted. It does everything sooooo well. You have a lifelong customer. Thanks you very much.

Sean McKinnon, Dallas GA

Craig,

Jeff here from (near Asheville N.C.). I am writing to thank Mohawk
and you for my probe 12! The outfitting takes the prize...I rolled the canoe the
second trip out. everything about the canoe turned out just right for me!
Hope to see you in October on the Nanty.......thanks
Jeff Poe, Ashville, NC

I am the proud owner of a Probe 12 II. I also bought an XL-13 from
you guys. I am extremely happy with my boats, especially my latest
acquisition, the 12 II. .....Your drawings on your website are
outstanding!!! They answer all the questions I had about the
difference between the Nova 16 and the Intrepid 16. Quite
interesting!!

take it easy!
Rick , MASS.

PS: always remember "half the paddle, twice the paddler!!

I picked up my PROBE 12 II today (May 23)! I ordered it on thursday May 18, and even with 2 days off. you got it here in unbelievable time. This is my second boat from you guys. My first was a PROBE 14. It was a little too big for just me though. I had planned to have a partner but, it wasn't meant to be. So I sold that boat and had to move to another MOHAWK! Many thank's to Craig. He helped me decide on my new boat. We're going to North Georgia this weekend to try it out. I can't wait!!!!!! I will recommend MOHAWK  to everyone who asks about my awesome PROBE 12 II. thanks again.

 Sean McKinnon,

Dallas Georgia

Craig and staff........ I picked up my new PROBE 12 this morning. It's still in the wrapper but all seems well. I just want to thank you for such great service. I ordered it on Monday and I'll have it in the water this afternoon. that's less than 72 hrs. from order time to end use. This must be some kind of record. Again thanks for all you guys did. I' m one happy customer.

Montgomery, Alabama

Hi Mohawk,

Just thought I'd send along a couple pictures of me in my Mohawk boats.
You are welcome to use either/both of these on your paddling page. I
absolutely LOVE the solo14 for flatwater paddling...and it has handled
class II whitewater just fine also! And I finally upgraded from my old
Mohawk Rogue to the Probe12 this spring. What a great boat the Probe12
is! Spins on a dime...surfs great...ferries well...and a drier boat
than the Rogue. I get LOTS of compliments on the boat from paddlers I
meet on the river, and LOTS of people admiring it.
