Nova 16- Length:15'11". Beam at gunwale:35". Beam at 4" waterline: 35". Depth at bow:20", at center:14.3", at stern:19". Weight approx. 66lbs.(Royalex), 59lbs.(R-84) Estimated capacity: 750 lbs.
Fast and sleek with advanced styling .It has one of the sharpest and most efficient entry lines of any Royalex canoe. The Nova 16,with accent lines molded under the deck, is one of our most attractive canoes. A tucked in center section makes solo paddling easier. The flared sides below the tucked in line and the shallow arched bottom give the Nova good initial and final stability. For lightweight and most canoeing conditions, choose R-84 Royalite. For added durability when the canoe is used in Rocky streams or where whitewater will be encountered, choose the heavier Royalex material. This is one of our most popular tandem canoes. for both wilderness tripping ,touring and general recreation use.

The Nova 17 is a fast, lightweight, wilderness tripping/touring canoe or a recreational canoe for those who prefer a longer canoe. The same fine characteristics of the Nova 16 only in a longer canoe. Choose it over the Nova 16 where greater room and capacity are required. Again where durability is a concern, choose the Nova 17 in the heavier, more durable, Royalex.

The Intrepid's are dry, high volume canoes, with slightly arched and moderately rockered bottoms, they are the most versatile of our canoes. Very stable and dry, they are at home running whitewater rivers or carrying fisherman to their favorite fishing spot. Because of their roomy, full volume, flared ends with extra reinforcing, the Intrepid's are the best choice when the canoe will be used in both flat and whitewater. The 17' Intrepid has few equals as a stable, load-carrying, wilderness tripper. Both the Intrepid 16 and 17 are also excellent roomy, stable load carrying family canoes.

Some Testimonials for our Tandem Canoes
Sharon
Just a quick note.
Couldn't be more pleased with the Mohawk (Sport)
canoe that I
purchased. I was concerned about buying this canoe sight-unseen. Just
being able to reach out and touch a real canoe in the showroom makes a
difference.
However, the advice I got from Craig and others made all the
difference. The shipping company, Averitt, was also very helpful too.
They were open 24/7 for pick-up and they unpacked and helped me load it.
The man had even fished the Clinch River, which is where I plan on
putting 100,000 river miles on the Mohawk Sport.
The canoe is perfect: it's the exact color I wanted, its light
so I can load it myself, and it's extremely maneuverable. I floated the
Clinch last week. Early morning mist was still rising from the cold
water released from Norris dam. It just looked like magic. The blue
sky and billowing clouds reflected in the water as a mirror image. The
water was perfectly clear. The canoe was extremely stable as a fly
casting platform. What can I say, it was a great day. It must be
great to be a company that makes dreams come true!
Thanks!

Greetings,
Please congratulate your employees on a fine product. When I initially
bought my Nova 17 I was looking for a good all
purpose canoe for tripping,
hunting, fishing and general paddling canoe (solo and with two people). I
compared every manufacturer and every material I could find. Eventually I
chose the Nova 17 based on material, construction and price. The hardest
part was convincing myself to buy the canoe without being able to see or
touch one. After comparing three or four brands of Royalex canoes, I
decided that most seemed similar so the Nova 17 should be a safe buy and
save me some money. I was right!
I have been extremely happy with my Nova 17 since the day it arrived. My
canoe is now about four years old. It has been a hard working canoe. It
has performed flawlessly through several Boundary Waters adventures, duck
hunting, fishing, camping, river trips and general paddling fun. Unlike a
more expensive Wenonah I occasionally borrowed before I had my Mohawk, the
Nova can be turned around and paddled solo which is easily it's most
versatile feature.
The fit and finish are excellent and have stood up to a hard four years of
use (ok... abuse). The hull design handles a full load of gear, two people
and rolling white caps with no problem. I was a little concerned about
Royalite vs. Royalex, but the material has performed extremely well whether
it is getting bounced onto a rocky shore in the BWCA , grinding over a
gravel bar in a tiny stream or skidding to a stop on a submerged rock in a
river. There are many battle scars on my canoe, but I suspect I'll get worn
out before it does.
I will be using my Nova for a river race this weekend. The next weekend is
the opening day of fishing season and my Nova will be my home for most of
the weekend. Then it gets two weeks off before it heads to the Sylvania
Wilderness Area in Michigan for a canoe camping trip. Two weeks later is a
class II and III river trip. Thanks for building a spectacular all purpose
canoe that I can rely on and has really earned its stripes.

HEY MOHAWK,
I just got back from the BWCA, and the canoe you all sent me, NOVA
17,
did exceptionally well. We were in the big storm on the 4th, but my
canoe had no problems. I tell all my friends about your canoes.
Thanks for making such a good product for such an outstandingly low
price. As soon as I can afford one, I'm getting one of your solo boats
too.
Thanks again,

When asked if we could use this Email, Kenton replied: "Sure, no problem, you can use my comments and my name. Still lovin' my canoe!
To my friends at Mohawk Canoes:
We received our new Nova 17 canoe just a couple weeks ago. The
delivery time was only a week the whole way from your place in Florida
to us here in Montana. It arrived in perfect condition with shipping
charges right at what you had estimated, reflecting your good deal
relationship with the shipper. We were immediately impressed with the
stability and good glide of the boat. I have several canoes and would
rank yours as the best value in the industry. Other name brand canoes
in this area cost several hundred dollars more.
We just got back from a couple day trip into Shoshoe Lake in
Yellowstone Park. This trip requires crossing Lewis Lake and
traversing a long channel to Shoshone Lake, the largest back country
lake in the country. The Nova handled the long flat water trip with
ease and the short fast water section with confidence.

Mohawk:
I picked up my new canoe this morning. Just thought I'd let you
know it arrived on time, in good shape, and Roadway charged exactly what
was on the invoice I received from you. I can't wait to try it out.

Hello Mohawks,
I bought a Nova 16 several months ago and wanted you to
know that it has been terrific! Your company shipped my
canoe (with added seat) promptly and efficiently. It has
been a great canoes and has seen plenty of action this
summer in numerous California lakes, rivers and bays.
Way to go.

Hi to all the folks at Mohawk,
.............picked up our new canoe a couple of weeks ago. She, my wife,
my son, my daughter, a friend of my daughters, and I have all been out on
the canals (inland waterways) and on Biscayne Bay this weekend.
The Nova
16 is a dream to paddle. It slips though the water so easily and
responds so nicely that it just "can't be" as stable as it is. Car top
carriage is a snap. My son found one-man portage fairly easy
too. We'll be on the water more and more.
Thanks for the great canoe at a great price!

Just as you said it would, my new 14' Sport canoe serves well as a solo and a tandem boat. I put two 25lb. weights near the stern seat and paddle from the bow when I go alone, and the Sport handles like a dream. It's also narrow enough at the middle that I can paddle comfortably from both sides. And the bent shaft paddles you sent are superb! Now if only our Texas rivers were a little higher...
Note from Mohawk: Rather than the center seat option, he choose to paddle solo from the bow seat and paddle the canoe in reverse because the canoe is not as wide in that position, and is easier to reach over the gunwales.
I know you guys get a bunch of testimonials about your canoes, but I
wanted to add my thoughts... I purchased a Nova 16 and
paddle it as well as two touring Kayaks. I recently had the Nova down a river
that has a small dam on the side of an island to river right (a farmer built it
to catfish on). Normally the water is low and you have to pick up the boat,
portage over the top of the wall, and put back in on the other side. At best you
can usually just make it over the top of the earthen wall if the water is
running fast. Due to spring rains the water was over the top and was about a
class II rapid with some holes and uneven spots around rocks just past the wall.
We ran the Nova over it and were amazed that it handled the rapids as smoothly as it
did. I had more problems in my kayak than we had in the canoe! The bow stayed high, and the boat didn't even consider leaning or pitching in the
rough spots... I also take my Lab Retriever in it and with a small amount of
bracing, it is a very stable and responsive boat and Hailey enjoys a day out
on the water with Dad. Combined with the glide path and tracking, I have
found it to be a great bargain over the typical in-store "overpriced" boats,
and hope to have it for many years. A buddy is currently on his second
Blazer 16 and wouldn't even consider any other brand of boat!

I Just want to say that this canoe is one of the best I have ever
owned. The 14ft Sport is a very versatile boat. I was worried that the
R-84 wouldn't be strong enough to handle some of the rough terrain were
I fish...... Two years later and about a thousand gashes, she's still goin'
strong. Not a leak.
Thanks for a great product

I spent several months researching the purchase of my first ( and quite possibly my last) canoe. After considering some of the "big names" like Old Town, Wenonah and Mad River, I finally settled on a Mohawk canoe and the Nova 16. Although price was certainly a factor. I was impressed with the customer service reps at Mohawk I spoke with on several occasions. They were pleasant and knowledgeable. Most of all I was impressed with the quality and maneuverability of the canoe I purchased. I spent most of last summer paddling it in small lakes and rivers and couldn't believe how easily it handled, especially with a novice at the helm. It has proven to be versatile for recreational paddling, fishing, and family outings with my wife and two children. Several friends with more canoe experience than myself were totally impressed after using it for several fishing expeditions. Thanks for a great product and keep up the good work.
Sincerely.
