INDIAN RIVER LAGOON

(Fishing report)

Gary and Lacey Medley in their 17' MOHAWK Nova Canoe.

Gary Medley and his daughter Lacey are avid Florida paddlers, Gary's excuse # 8 to get out on the water is fishing . So here's a report on one of their latest trips.

Conditions: Local storms, cloudy with occasional rain.

Where: Indian River Lagoon, just north of  Haulover Canal in Ducks  Roost Cove.

Report: They got on the water at sunup. Once they arrived at the cove they anchored in about 18 inches of water. They were freelining living shrimp, (no extra weight at all, just a hook and a shimp). Throughout the mourning they got the normal mix of Trout, Rays and Catfish.At 10:10 Lacey hooked her 22" Redfish, she fought it for about 15 min., then boated her first Red. They brought in a couple more reds that day.
